CAD Design
Modern Computer Aided Design systems are an essential part of the design process of any modern engineering company.
At MPPS we use SolidWorks Premium CAD design software as standard for modelling parts and assemblies before producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
If we are making a replacement part, modifying the design of a component or a sub-assembly, or undertaking a major machine design we will always start by preparing a "solid model" design of individual components and assemblies.
We can then optimise the design for fit, functionality and ease of manufacture, before we commit to issuing drawings for manufacture and assembly in our workshop at Tipton.
With our ROMER portable Coordinate Measuring Machine and DezignWorks software we can measure existing components and assemblies, either in our factory or on site and link into the SolidWorks system for the preparation of drawings for record purposes and for modification. This means that given only a worn or broken part or assembly we can 'reverse engineer' components and assemblies without access to original design documentation. The ROMER CMM can also be used for inspection of new or modified items prior to final assembly.
This investment in modern computer aided design and measuring systems is part of MPPS future plans to expand its capabilities in the design and delivery of individual components, assemblies, machine modifications and complete production systems.
